Gardening in Small Spaces is Possible

Gardening is such a wonderful way to take your mind off things. The actual work involved in gardening can be quite therapeutic, not to mention the fact that having a garden to sit in and look at is just good for the soul.

You might think that gardens are only available to people who have a lot of space but this is absolutely not true. It is just a question of using your space wisely and carefully.

If you live in an apartment or small home, here are some tips for maximising your garden space. The first thing you need to think about is not growing things horizontally, which takes up space, but vertically. You can do this by utilising poles, trellises and raised step-like beds and space saving planters.

It might take a bit of ingenuity to set this all up, but it will be worth it. From here you need to think about what plants to use. Do you want flowers or a vegetable garden, or a bit of both?

Whatever the answer the solution is similar. In a small space it is best to have plants that can grow vertically like a vine. So you might like to plant peas which grow along trellises and poles. But you could also plant Black Eyes Susan if you wanted some colour.
